Features

■Made in Japan
These tableware items are produced in Tono, Gifu Prefecture, the largest ceramic production area in Japan. This region is well known for its high-quality porcelain and long tradition of craftsmanship.

■Traditional Japanese Patterns
The collection is inspired by traditional Japanese patterns, combining boldness with delicate, detailed designs. Two representative motifs are featured: “Yoraku-mon” (beaded ornament pattern) and “Nami-Fuji” (waves and Mt. Fuji). Each motif is available in two styles – blue-and-white (sometsuke) and polychrome overglaze (iro-e).

■Origin of the Pattern
Shonzui: Originated in the Ming dynasty of China and produced in Jingdezhen for the Japanese tea ceremony market. It became highly prized among Japanese tea masters.
Yourakumon (瓔珞文): A motif symbolizing good fortune. It represents jeweled ornaments worn by the aristocracy in ancient India, with the meanings of yo = jewels/necklace and raku = to adorn.
Nami-Fuji (波富士): Inspired by the famous ukiyo-e of Katsushika Hokusai, depicting the great waves with Mt. Fuji. As Japan’s highest mountain, Mt. Fuji is regarded as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune, also known from the auspicious saying “Ichi-Fuji, Ni-Taka, San-Nasubi” (First Fuji, second hawk, third eggplant).

■”Blue and White Porcelain” and “Polychrome Overglaze”
Sometsuke (Blue-and-White): A timeless design featuring vivid blue motifs on white porcelain. The strong contrast makes dishes stand out beautifully, whether serving Japanese or Western cuisine.
Iro-e (Polychrome Overglaze): Decorated with vivid “gosai” colors – red, green, purple, and deep blue – creating an elegant and luxurious impression, perfect for festive occasions.

■Single or Set
The items are available both individually and as coordinated sets. Sets make excellent gifts for occasions such as Christmas, New Year, Mother’s Day, or Father’s Day, as well as for hospitality and business partners. Their cultural value and refined design appeal strongly to international customers who appreciate authentic Japanese craftsmanship.
